Corally exists thanks to open data and free software. These are the sources and their licences.
OpenStreetMap
Tracks, roads, names, points of interest and access rights: © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0). Routes and GPX files exported by Corally contain data derived from OpenStreetMap and carry that attribution.
Spotted a mistake on a track? Fix it on openstreetmap.org: you fix it for everyone.
Base map
Vector tiles by OpenFreeMap, using the OpenMapTiles schema and OpenStreetMap data.
Our own maps (the app's online map when we switch it on, and offline maps per autonomous community, including those of «Check tracks»): built by us with Planetiler (Apache 2.0) and the OpenMapTiles schema (© OpenMapTiles, design CC BY 4.0), with data from © OpenStreetMap (ODbL), Natural Earth (public domain) and the OpenStreetMap water polygons (osmdata.openstreetmap.de, ODbL); Noto Sans typeface (SIL Open Font License).
Aerial imagery
“Satellite” background: PNOA courtesy of © Instituto Geográfico Nacional de España (CC BY 4.0).
Software
GraphHopper routing engine (Apache 2.0), MapLibre GL map (BSD-3), PostgreSQL and PostGIS, osm2pgsql, Next.js and FastAPI. The mobile app: React Native and Expo (MIT), MapLibre Native map (BSD-2), with the Barlow and JetBrains Mono typefaces (SIL Open Font License). App text with use-intl and FormatJS (MIT); data caching with TanStack Query (MIT); crash reports with Sentry (MIT-licensed SDK). App navigator: location with expo-location, voice with the phone's own speech synthesis (expo-speech) and screen kept on with expo-keep-awake (MIT). Background guidance with expo-task-manager (MIT). Rides on the phone with expo-file-system (MIT). Navigator with Ferrostar (Stadia Maps, BSD-3-Clause): on Android with MapLibre Compose (BSD-3-Clause) and OkHttp (Apache 2.0), on iOS with MapLibre SwiftUI DSL (BSD-3-Clause).
Offline maps and «Check tracks»: tiles in PMTiles format (Protomaps pmtiles writer and go-pmtiles tool, BSD-3), hillshading prepared with rasterio (BSD-3) and GDAL (MIT); photos with expo-image-picker (MIT), shrunk on the server with Pillow (HPND licence) and network state with expo-network (MIT).
Elevation and slopes
Real slope of each section and elevation profiles: Digital Terrain Model by Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional (CC BY 4.0) and Copernicus DEM GLO-30, © DLR e.V. 2010-2014 and © Airbus Defence and Space GmbH 2014-2018, provided under Copernicus by the European Union and ESA.
Hillshading and 3D map view: Mapterhorn (mapterhorn.com/attribution).
Hillshading of the offline maps: computed by the phone from our terrain model (the IGN and Copernicus data above).
Authentication
Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple: optional authentication services (in the app, with react-native-google-signin, MIT, and Expo Apple Authentication, MIT). PyJWT (MIT) verifies token signatures and cryptography (Apache-2.0 or BSD-3-Clause) encrypts revocation credentials.
Place photos
Optional Wikimedia Commons photos, linked to the place through OpenStreetMap or Wikidata (CC0). When OpenStreetMap links none, we look for a Wikidata item with a photo very close by and with the same name and, for viewpoints, a Commons photo taken a few metres away; the card says when a photo was matched automatically or was taken nearby. Each photo displays its author, license and source link. Photos load only when requested.
Fuel prices
Fuel station prices and opening hours: Geoportal de Gasolineras of the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, open data reused under Spanish Law 37/2007 on the re-use of public sector information. Each card shows the source and time of the last update. We fetch them from our server: your browser never connects to the Ministry. Prices can change at any time; the pump price is what counts.
Visitor country, region and city
Approximate GeoIP from DB-IP City Lite (db-ip.com/db/download/ip-to-city-lite) and network name from DB-IP ASN Lite (db-ip.com/db/download/ip-to-asn-lite), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). We use local copies for our own metrics (the network only to separate bot visits); no IP is sent to DB-IP. The maxminddb reader is licensed under Apache 2.0. Dashboard charts are our own.
